Dusk till Dawn: DTD is one of my favorite songs to do live. This song is all about hanging out with your friends and all things country. It's about playing music and throwing back some beer by the campfire with all your friends and of course the girls! I wrote this one LATE night with Ethan Rogers and I've been playing it ever since. It's a great song to tailgate or party too! But if you're going to listen to it, TURN IT UP! _________________________________________________________________________________ Riverbank: This song has a pretty cool backstory. It was actually written during an acoustic gig and totally on the spot. I sometimes do a thing where I'll take topics from the crowd and make a song up while we play. A country boy's freestyle! Ethan Rogers was also involved in this one. He started playing a little rift and then I started singing and it just worked. It's a country boys fantasy to say the least. _________________________________________________________________________________ The South I Love: I used to work on the road A LOT and this song came about on one of my long trips away from home. I was working in Virginia and wanted to write a song about all the things I loved about the South, hints the title of the song. Its just a fun, easy listening country song that every Southerner can relate too. _________________________________________________________________________________ I Found Love: This is another fun country feeling song. It tells the story about a guy falling in love. He fought it for a while and was the guy none of the girls could tame until that special country girl came along. Just give in! It happens to us all! _________________________________________________________________________________ Peace of Mind: This song is special to me. Its's one of those songs that was so easy to write it was almost like it was writing itself. Every year I go on a mission trip to Nicaragua with a couple church groups and one day my long time youth pastor asked if I could write a theme song for the trip. I think he might've been joking but regardless he got one. I sat down with my guitar and within an hour it came to be. Its another one of my favorites because of the story it tells and the many memories I have from there that resurface every time I hear this song. _________________________________________________________________________________ You Know I Know: Sometimes when the wheels starting turning you don't stop them. The morning I wrote this song I was actually supposed to be meeting a writing legend named Charlie Craig for a co-write. I woke up with the juices flowing and wrote this song before I even made it to him. it's about those looks and feelings that say what words don't have too. when your in love and that girl sees right through your tough exterior. RIP Charlie Craig _________________________________________________________________________________ Let Me Have Tonight: A long time musician/producer once told me all the great writers can write a song about anything even a trash can. I wanted to see if I could take the simplest object and build off of it, so I took his advice and went with the trash can! The first line is "A tin can is rusty and old" and it just grew legs from there. Thanks Lee Davis _________________________________________________________________________________ Out Of Your Way: I wrote this one about a relationship where the happiness and fun had been gone for a long time. It talks about and under appreciated man who's girl has lost the love. When she tells him to stay out of her way he finally takes her literally. _________________________________________________________________________________ Looking At You Looking at you is an idea I had in my head for at least a month and just couldn't make it right. Finally I think I did. It has become one of my most requested songs live and is a great love song.
Ty Bates' Georgia roots have no doubt influenced his love and respect for country music. Growing up listening to Alan Jackson, Randy Travis and Garth Brooks, Ty grew to love the stories the legends sang about in their colossal hits. Ty’s first musical memory came in 1989 when his dad, who worked for Ford Motor Company in Hapeville, Georgia, took him to an open house at the plant. Ty was fascinated with the production of the cars but what captivated his attention was the band and music of a new country star, Alan Jackson. What better way to be introduced to music than by a living legend, and as they say “the rest is history”. Ty began singing and writing and with each new song his love and passion for music grew. Ty sang wherever he could ... beauty pageants, talent shows, churches, All-State chorus, fairs and even flea markets. As each appearance lead to an invitation to another stage he began to realize the potential of making his mark in music in a life long career. After graduating from high school he pursued his music career by moving to Myrtle Beach, SC where he sang in shows including "High Steppin Country" and the highly acclaimed “Carolina Opry”. While fine tuning his stage presence night after night he began recording several of his original songs where he fell in love with the studio. In Nashville, Ty recorded a self titled album which was received with high praise from industry peers. Ty would eventually form the "Ty Bates Band". His live shows began to draw bigger and bigger crowds with more than enthusiastic fans. Word spread big and fast that “Ty Bates” was the show to see. Recognized by members of Georgia’s country music industry as Georgia’s best country artist and artist most likely to succeed, Ty was named Georgia Country Artist of the year Nov.5,2011. With electrifying and contagious energy on stage and his soulful, rich vocals in songs like "The South I Love", “You Know I Know” and "Peace of Mind", Ty continues to establish himself in Nashville as the artist to watch in 2012.
